Haka gas explosions injure two, Monywa, kills one

A series of gas explosions occurred at a shop selling gas cylinders used for cooking in Haka, Chin State, destroying a house and wounding two people on Tuesday.
U Saw Yon Man, head of Haka Township Fire-services Department, said that a man was burned when he caught fire in the blasts while a woman sustained injuries from the shockwave cause by the explosions he added.
Police said that the gas explosions in which six gas cylinders exploded one after another is believed to have occurred while water was being boiled on a gas stove in the shop.
According to sources, about 30 cylinders full of gas were kept at the shop which happens to be the only business selling cooking gas in Haka.
In another incident, a gas canister at a restaurant in Monwya blew up yesterday, killing a 35-year old man and injuring another. —Aung Thant Khaing
