Growers of asters in Tatkon Township enjoy demand

DSC04592 72FARMERS growing monsoon asters in Changyi village of Tatkon Township in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area are currently enjoying a boom. As the rainy season comes to an end and devotees pay homage to pagodas and monasteries during the Thadingyut Holidays asters are in demand to be offered for use in ceremony.  The local people offer the colourful flowers to Buddha at their home shrines. The flowers are essential to every traditional offering. Village aster grower U Naw Ni says that as some areas were inundated by flooding the locally grown asters are going for a good price.  He added that weather this year in Tatkon has been good for growth.He revealed that by investingjust K500000 to grow an acre of asters he expects to reap a profit of three million kyat over the four-month flower growing season.
Cold season asters will be harvested over the coming months.
