THE Peaceful co-existence of the diversity of ideologies and the right to freedom of expression is needed to ensure the prevalence of democracy in the country, said Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint yesterday.
Speaking to staff from News and Periodicals Enterprise and Printing and Publishing Department at Kyemon Daily in Nay Pyi Taw’s Zeyarthiri Township the Union minister said that the state-owned media is tasked with informing the public of what the elected government is doing for the people.
He also stressed the need to point out the failures of those in government bodies, reflecting the voice of the people including individuals and organisations that have different views of government agencies at the same time.
The government-owned media houses will publish criticism from the people over the government’s activities, he stated.
During the meeting, the Union minister called for point of view of staff on implementation of the government’s policies, saying that their point of view could help all involved achieve the success of implementation.
Next, the Union minister met with staff from Myanmar Radio and Television in Tatkon Township, calling for a vision set for MRTV to become a broadcast media that can draw public attention and stressing the need to work together for further development.
