The ceremony for the 30th peacebuilding anniversary of Wa Special Region No. 2 was held in Pangsang yesterday morning. A government delegation consisting of Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe, Peace Commission (PC) Vice-Chair U Thein Zaw, Shan State Minister for Security and Border Affairs Colonel Hla Oo, Director-General of the Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor U Zaw Htay, and PC Advisor U Moe Zaw Oo attended the ceremony.
Firstly, fireworks were set off and the State Flag and the flag of Wa Special Region No. 2 were hoisted accompanied by the national anthem.
Secondly, a military parade marched and representatives of ethnic races living in the special region and other areas performed traditional ethnic dances, songs and music and then took their place in the ceremony area.
Next, U Pau Yu Chang of the United Wa State Party (UWSP) and leader of the United Wa State Army delivered a speech.
Union Minister U Thein Swe also delivered a speech as a representative of the Union Government and then read a greetings message sent by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who is also Chairperson of the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre.

The Master of Ceremonies then put the formal messages sent by individuals who were involved in the peace building effort of the special region and the 13 ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) on record, and then read the messages.
Following this, the government delegation and other guests were treated to a luncheon at Pangsang’s People’s Hall.
Afterwards, Union Minister U Thein Swe and delegation met privately with a delegation led by Mr. Sun Guoxiang, China’s Foreign Ministry’s Special Envoy for Asian Affairs, in People’s Hall. They openly discussed tasks related to Myanmar’s peace process, regional stability and development, encouraging EAOs who have not signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) to sign the NCA, and plans to arrange meetings with them.
In the afternoon, the government delegation left from Pangsang to Lashio by Tatmadaw helicopter and then flew to Yangon from there. —MNA  (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
