Born on 25 August, 1955, in Krumbach, Schwaben, Dr Gerd Muller obtained a diploma in Economics Pedagogue. He also holds a master’s degree in business education. His political career started as a member of Parliament from 1989 to 1994 when he was directly elected as a delegate of the Kempten, oberallgau and Lindau constituency, and became a member of the committee for foreign and defense policy as well as the spokesperson on Europe, foreign, and development policy for the CSU group.
In 2005-2013, Dr Gerd Muller rose to Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Road, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, and since 17 December of 2013, he has become the Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development. As military engagement, he was assigned in Atlanta and Somalia from 2009 to 2015; in Durfar and Sudan from 2010 to 2015; in South Sudan from 2012 to 2015; in Mali from 2013 to 2016; in Central Africa Republic in 2014; and in Liberia in 2015 to perform special duties of United Nations Peacekeeping. Dr Muller is known for his encouragement of increased agricultural loan and promotion of export of agricultural products. Dr Gerd Miller is married with two children.
