Garuna Gabar Home for the Aged opens in Nay Pyi Taw

COMMANDER-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended a ceremony to open the Garuna Gabar Home for the Aged in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
In his address at the opening of the Home for the Aged the Commander-in-Chief said that more efforts will be made to provide war veterans and their families with housing and health care services, adding that new housings are under construction in Yangon, Magway, Papun, Dawei, Myeik and Kolam.
36 elderly citizens are now living at the home.
Construction of the home began in October 2015. At this time 35 out of 38 planned buildings have been completed. Upon completion the home will accommodate 180 elderly men, 120 elderly women and 48 elderly couples.
