Yangon — A meeting will be held on 14 September to discuss developing a common framework for political dialogue after the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, which is expected to occur in early October.
The meeting will take place at Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon and participants will discuss the formation of a joint committee which will come into existence after the peace accord is signed.
Informal talks on establishing a political framework have been held for five times, with ethnic armed groups and 56 political parties participating.
Vice Chairman of UPWC Union Minister U Aung Min will attend the high level meeting.
“It is expected to be attended by officials from the NLD, USDP and the Defence Services. Ethnic groups have demanded that the framework be developed within 60 days,” said U Aung Naing Oo of the Myanmar Peace Centre. —Ye Khoung Nyunt, Myat Thanda Maung
