Even during the monsoon season, there has been a significant number of foreign tourists travelling around Myanmar in car, motorcycle and bicycle convoys.
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism gave the green light for Shwesinyeatnyein Travels and Tour Co Ltd to arrange a visit for three Americans from 4 to 17 September, who entered Chin State from India on motorcycles. They travelled along the Tamu-Kalay-Monwya-Bagan-Poppa-Mandalay-Inle-Nay Pyi-Yangon-Kyaithtiyo-Mawlamyaing route, before exiting to Thailand via the Myawady border.
Similarly, from 7 to 15 September, Rising Travels and Tour Co Ltd brought two Australians into Myanmar through the Indian border by motorcycle. The tourists took the Tamu-Kalay-Gantgaw-Monywa-Pagan-Yemaethin-Toungoo-Kyaithtiyo-Hpa-an route before entering Thailand via Myawady.
From 8 to 17 September, Cy Nam Kong Travels and Tour Co Ltd arranged a 16-member tour group from Malaysia in 15 cars. They entered Myanmar from Mae Sot, Thailand, and then travelled along the Myawaddy-Yangon-Bagan-Mandalay-Inle-Mongpyin-Kyaintong route before returning to Thailand via Tachileik. The peak tourist season begins after the rainy season ends in October and the volume of tourists is expected to continue to rise steadily in 2016.
