Flood rehabilitation committee holds first meeting

Nay Pyi Taw, 18 Aug — The coordinating committee on rehabilitation of disaster-hit regions held its first meeting Tuesday at the Ministry of Construction in Nay Pyi Taw.
Union Minister U Kyaw Lwin, who is also the chairman of the coordinating committee, called for participation of all, including film and music stars, as well as traditional dancers, for the success of relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The Union minister also highlighted the importance of the role of region and state governments for ensuring accuracy in facts and figures and stressed the need for distribution of local and international aid to people affected by flooding.
Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Phone Swe later made a presentation of relief and rehabilitation programmes for flood-affected people.—MNA
