Fisheries research projects to be conducted for five years

World Fish Myanmar will conduct fisheries research from 2017 to 2021 for the development of the aquaculture sector, according to a report in the Myawady Daily yesterday.
World Fish Myanmar is a new INGO program which is providing technical assistance to conduct the fisheries research for the development of the aquaculture sector with the support of the Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and European Union.
World Fish Myanmar has supported the development of the small-scale fishery business since 2012-2016.
Myanmar fisheries enterprise will provide assistance in cooperation with small and medium fish breeding enterprises and rice producers in conducting the research with an aim to start a family managed mixed fisheries and paddy farming and upgrade to commercial scale businesses. Moreover, the fisheries research will be conducted to be able to submit a suggestion for the development of the small-scale fishery business and the weakness of the fishery management law to the government.
