First meeting of Legal Affairs Work Committee on Elimination of Child Labor

A first meeting of Legal Affairs Work Committee on Elimination of Child Labor was held at Union Attorney General’s Office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday where Deputy Attorney General U Win Myint delivered a speech.
In his speech, the Deputy Attorney General said the Myanmar National Committee on Child Labour Elimination was formed on 5 February 2018 and the National Committee formed eight work committees including a Legal Affairs Work Committee. The functions of the Legal Affairs Work Committee include providing the legal information, amening laws related to child labour, suggesting to the National Committee on drawing up new laws, establishing and implement work programs on eliminating child labor. Protection for child labors is to be provided according to international norms and standards. Effective cooperation among relevant organisations are to be established in order to take action according to law on problems related to child labor and meeting attendees are urged to discuss and suggest on what ought to be done.
Work committee members in attendance then discussed child labor elimination legal frames and works to be continued.
The meeting was attending by Legal Affairs Work Committee members and departmental officials. — MNA
