THE Harvesting and Field Day of model Palethwe hybrid Paddy Field 1288 in Ingyinmyaing, a village of Myawady Township, Kayin State, was completed on Monday.
The paddy field, owned by farmer U Shan Mae was planted using GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) methods. This specific method of farming was developed to maximize growth and bolster harvest takings.
Local agriculture officials and farmers discussed and reviewed the paddy plantation and the GAP methods applied.  The yield of the paddy field was 225.27 baskets per acre. (1 basket=33.33 kg)
Myawady District’s Deputy Commission U Lwin Ko Oo, local officials and 74 farmers from nearby villages attended the field day to observe the process.
