Export value rises by over Ks700 million in past 10 months

THE total value of external trade between Myanmar and partner countries amounted to over Ks9.3 billion, including $3.7b from borders, an increase of more than Ks700 million compared with the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Between 1 April of last year and 27 January of this year, the country sold $2.254b worth of agriculture products, $7.639m worth of animal products, $445m in fisheries products, $787m worth of mineral products, $194m worth of forest products, $4.365b worth of industrial products and other products worth $1.277b.
The government sector exported $3.104b worth of products to trade partners this FY, while $6.228b worth of goods went to those buyers through the private sector.
Last year, the country exported $8.623b worth of commodities including $4.212b from the government sector and $4.411b from the private sector.
The export of mineral products decreased by $119 million, and industrial finished goods export also declined by $273 million compared with the similar period last year, according to the ministry.
Agricultural products, minerals, industrial finished goods, animal products and marine products have mainly been sold to foreign trade partners, especially neighbouring countries, via sea routes and borders.—Shwe Khine
