Exhibition marks birthday of elderly artist

TO mark the 86th birthday of Artist U Aye Myint, a solo art exhibition is being held in Mandalay starting from 2 February with a focus on showcasing his original artworks that reflect the country’s traditional arts and culture.
The event had run until 6 February at the Mandalay Hill Gallery in Aungmyethazan Township, featuring over 70 works in a wide range of styles and media.
Subject matters include traditional themes like the beauty of Myanmar girls and their customs, still life, landscapes, ethnic diversity in the country and Buddhist culture.
The 86 year old artist said Artist U Kyaw Lay was his first teacher and that he also emulates the traditional artistic techniques of Artist U Khin Maung.
