Ethnic armed groups continue Mai Ja Yang meeting

THE ethnic armed organisations continued their plenary meeting yesterday in Mai Ja Yang, Kachin State, with the intention of finding some common ground in the establishment of a federal system in the country.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Karen National Union (KNU) Pado Naw Si Po Ra Sein stressed that the establishment of a federal system and the restoration of internal peace cannot be completed by a single organisation.
All ethnic armed organisations, all ethnic political parties, democratic forces and the people must work in unison to achieve success, he added.
The meeting was followed by a press conference, in which nine leaders of the ethnic armed organisations responded to queries raised by correspondents.—Ye Khaung Nyunt
