Elevator maker holds launch ceremony


A ceremony to launch the MCEM elevator company, formed in a partnership between Mitsubishi’s elevator division and the Serge Pun & Associates group of companies,  was held recently at the Sedona Hotel.
MCEM has installed elevators at Shwedagon Pagoda, as well as Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw international airports.
Mitsubishi lift and elevator has a presence in 90 countries and has been in operation for more than 80 years. The company arrived in Myanmar in 1998 and began a US $150 million investment in the country in 2014.
An official of the company said, “We would like to stretch our work not only in Mandalay but in other regions. If possible, we plan to install elevators in Thilawa Special Economic Zone.”
About 50 technicians and staff are employed at the Myanmar branch of the company.–Thi Thi Min
