Yangon, 27 July — Ministry of Information and DW Akademie are jointly holding a workshop on electoral reporting as a preparation to cover the news in line with rules and regulations of the Union Election Commission and the Myanmar Press Council (Interim).
Deputy Minister for Information U Pike Htway made opening remark on the two-day workshop started on Monday, with saying the journalists are to observe media ethics during their electoral reporting.
DW Akademie is Germany’s leading organization for international media development, and it is working in 50 countries around the world.
A total of 29 representatives from state-owned media, its partner news agencies, radio stations and media trainees attend the workshop, with the discussions of officials from UEC and senior journalists from MPC, Mizzima, ABC, BBC Media Action, IMS and Internews.
U Maung Maung Su from Myanma Radio said, “The workshop provides us the knowledge how to cover the news during election period transparently.” Myat Thandar Maung
