DMH cautions people about possible flooding

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced yesterday that water levels of the Ayeyawady River were recorded at 1.5ft at Bhamo, Mandalay and Sagaing below their respective danger levels during the next day at Bhamo and next three days at Mandalay and Sagaing.
The water level of Dokhtawady River at Myitnge was recorded at 2ft below its danger level and may reach its danger level during the next three days, added the department at the 12:30pm announcement yesterday.
The Chindwin River at Hkamti reached 5.5ft above its danger level and it may remain above its danger level over the next three days.
Moreover, the water level of Ngawun River at Ngathaing Chaung reached 1.5 feet above its danger level and may remain at this level over the next five days.
Besides, the water level of Ayeyawady River at Shwegu reached 0.5ft above its danger level and it may continue to rise about 1.5ft during the next two days and may remain above its danger level.
According to yesterdays report, water levels have exceeded by about 3ft at Homalin, 3.5ft at Phaungpyin, 4ft at Mawlaik, 1.5ft each at Kalewa and Kani, 1ft at Minkin of Chindwin River above their respective danger levels. The water levels may continue to rise about 1ft at Homalin, about 1.5ft each at Phaungpyin, Mawlaik and Kalewa, 1ft at Minkin and about 0.5 ft at Kani during the next two days and may remain above their respective dangers levels.  The department advised people settled near the river bank and low lying areas in Bhamo, Mandalay, Sagaing and Myitnge Townships and along Ngawun River to take precautionary measures  and along Chindwin River.— Myanmar News Agency
