Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung met cordially with delegation members of ethnic races at the ministry hall yesterday evening.
The 100-member delegation includes youths from southern Shan State, Sagaing Region, the Naga Self-administered Zone, and Taninthayi Region.
At the meeting, the minister said the excursion trip is aimed strengthening friendship, trust and respect among ethnic people.
“The experiences you gained int his trip are to be utilized in development of human resources in border areas when you arrived back,” said the Union Minister. He emphasised the importance of peace and stability of the country.
He also urged all ethnic brethern to participate in eternal peace building process and to urderstand the menance of drug in the country.
With the aim of enhancing friendship and understanding among ethnic people, the Ministry of Border Affairs arranged the excursion programme for the ethnic people from remote areas to visit Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and other regions.
On behalf of the delegation, Ma Khin Than Oo, who is from Sagaing Region, expressed thanks to the minister and all officials concerned. The group was then entertained with traditional dances and songs which showed the essence and special glamour of their culture.
