THE Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Tin Shwe and his party attended an international conference on Developing Sustainable and Inclusive Buddhist Heritage and Pilgrimage Circuits in South Asia’s Buddhist Heartland on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The conference was held in the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dakha, Bangladesh. It was organised by the Bangladesh Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism in collaboration with United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The objectives of the conference was to bring all actors and stakeholders together in an open dialogue to discuss prominent issues and set directions for the sustainable development and promotion of cross border Buddhist tourism circuits and routs in South Asia and the Asia pacific, according to a conference statement.
During the conference director Daw KhinThan Win discussed the promotion of Pilgrimage tourism and travel within the Greater Mekong region and collaboration between government and private sectors.
