THE Academy Awards Presentation ceremony was held at the Myanmar Event Park in Yangon yesterday to honour the best films of 2014 and 2015, with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi sending a message to the event.
In her message, the Union minister for education, foreign affairs, electric power and energy and the President’s Office described the film industry as the most penetrative and the most influential medium of mass communication. The leader of the National League for Democracy attributed the success of films to the hard work and joint efforts among the people involved in producing them.
She expressed high hopes for further improvement in the areas of art and technology as the film industry has undergone challenges and accumulated experience. The film industry will turn 100 years old in 2020, she pointed out.
