Daw Aung San Suu Kyi joins National Defense and Security Council

MYANMAR’S new government formed a new 11-member National Defense and Security Council yesterday with President U Htin Kyaw as its chairman, according to an announcement from the President’s Office.
The National Defence and Security Council also includes Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, chairperson of the National League for Democracy, and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, along with the two vice presidents, the speakers of the two houses of parliament, the deputy commander-in-chief of defence services and the ministers of defence, home affairs and border affairs.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi joins the council as the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs.—GNLM
