Crime reporting call center available in Yangon

A 199 Call Center is available 24 hours a day to deal with crime reports by the people commencing on 4 July, said Yangon Region Police Acting Commander Police Colonel Win Naing at a briefing on crime crackdown operation taking place in the region’s four townships on Monday.
The 24-hour call center welcomes information in the cases of drugs, alcohol and gambling related crimes and crime reporting from the public, said the regional police chief, adding that the call center must be called in case of police emergencies.
He expressed police members’ readiness for tackling crime reports, saying that two task forces of 50 police members each in the regional level and a task force of 25 members in each district have been formed.
The onus is on all of us to achieve the rule of law in the region, said Police Commander Win Naing, calling for mass participation in the fight against crimes.
According to the Yangon Region Police, names and phone numbers of those who report on crimes will be kept confidential by the call center but it is required to provide exact address.
Apart from the 199 Call Center, reports of crimes can be made via 012323199, said the police.
