VICE-President Dr Sai Mauk Kham addressed the work coordination meeting of a leading committee on a religious title presentation ceremony and a rice offering ceremony at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
In his address, the Vice-President stressed the need of ensuring convenient accommodation and good transport for members of the Sangha who will be attending the ceremonies including religious title recipient monks, nuns and laypersons.
According to the Vice-President, 11 monks, a nun and a layperson from foreign countries will be presented religious titles at the ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw together with local monks and nuns.
He also called for a medical check-up program for monks and nuns and readiness of traditional and modern medicines.
On the rice offering ceremony, the Vice-President highlighted the importance of necessary measures to be taken to avoid delays while offering rice to monks and nuns.
Next, Union Minister U Soe Win elaborated on arrangements being made for the successful holding of the religious title presentation ceremony and rice offering ceremony.
Then, those present reported on ongoing works respectively. The meeting came to an end with concluding remarks by the Vice-President.
The ceremony to confer religious titles to monks and nuns for 2016 is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the rice offering ceremony at Sasana Maha Beikman Hall of Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw on 23 March, involving 152 monks, seven nuns and 55 laypersons at home and 11 monks, one nun and one layperson from aboard.
