Consumer protection laws explained in Mandalay


The Trade Promotion and Consumers Affairs Department under the Ministry of Commerce held public awareness talks about the rights and protections afforded by consumer protection laws on 10 September.
The event took place at Mandalay Region Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Chanayethazan Township and keynote speeches were given by Mandalay Region’s minister for agriculture and livestock U Myint Than and the minister for planning and economy and  chairman of  region consumers’ dispute arbitration board U Aung Zan.
Respective officials concern explained the purposes of consumer protection laws and explained the riks associated with foods that violate the laws, such as being sold after their expiry date.
A variety of potentially hazardous food was displayed on the sidelines of the meeting.
