AN international standard vegetable wholesale market is being built on a 83.7-acre plot of land in Insein Township, Yangon Region.
The wholesale market is designed not just to make a profit but also to help building bridges among farmers, consumers, local traders and exporters, said an official from the Yangon City Development Committee.
The project was started on 2 April, 2015. Our company designers drew the wholesale market architectural plan after they learned market design from Japan and Thailand. Myanmar engineers are constructing the market with a chief engineer, two project engineers, and ten site engineers from our company totaling 32 employees. There will by 1,500 5×11 feet rooms in four buildings, 200 stalls, car parking with an accommodation capacity of 2,500 cars. The estimated cost of the whole project is K118 billion. The market is still under construction and expected to be completed on 31 March, 2018. So far, 35 per cent has been completed, said U Soe Naing , Project Engineer of Dagon International Co Ltd.
