COMMANDER-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a ceremony to open a library and to hand over a garbage truck in Dawei, Taninthayi Region, yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General stressed the importance of reading to catch up with the modern age.
Knowledge, which is necessary for the rule of law can be gained from reading, he said, that is why Shwe Wai Thiri Panna Beikman Library has been established. To bring knowledge to the people in Dawei.
The democratic system in Myanmar shows that working hard within the framework of the law and in line with the constitution can contribute much to the development of a country, he added.
The library has been established at the cost of more than K260 million.
In the morning, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla also attended a ceremony to donate a great bell to Shwetaungsar Pagoda in Dawei, marking the 250th anniversary of the construction of the pagoda.—Myawady
