Commander-in-Chief (Army) statement on ferry accident

THE Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) issued a statement concerned with the accident of the Aung Soe Moe Kyaw dated yesterday.
The statement says that the C-I-C is sorry to learn that 68 people were confirmed dead, that the Tatmadaw has been offering necessary assistance as much as it can and praises the local people, departmental staff, members of the Tatmadaw, the police and the fire brigade.
The statement also suggested there are still requirements for the safety of passengers.
The sunken boat was recovered on 19 October, and soldiers and members of fire brigade who helped to retrieve the bodies when the boat was recovered will be honoured with certificates.—Myanmar News Agency
