THE Union Peace-making Working Committee and leaders of Mongla Special Region-4 held talks on the peace process on Sunday in Monglar, Shan State (East).
U Thein Zaw, Vice Chairman of the UPWC invited the leaders of the Monglar Special Region (4) to attend the Union Peace conference which is slated to be held on 12 January as special guests, expressing the government’s willingness to make peace inclusively.
During the meeting, U Sai Lin welcomed the achievements of the peace making process led by President U Thein Sein, pledging that Monglar Special Region (4) will never secede from the union and will guard the country’s sovereignty and follow the peace accord between the two sides.
Union Minister U Hla Tun pledged that the State would assist and cooperate with Monglar Region (4) in boosting the economy in the region.
Also present at the meeting were U Khin Maung Soe and the Chief Minister of Shan State U Sao Aung Myat, Lt-Gen Yar Pyai of the Ministry of Defence (Army) and Commander of Triangle Region Command while the Monglar side was led by U Sai Lin, the Chairman of Mongla Special Region (4) and Vice-Chairman U San Pae.
