A COMBINED medical team including specialists from the Myanmar Military Medical Services Corps successfully transplanted a kidney into a female patient, Daw Cho Thae Oo, at the Nay Pyi Taw Military Hospital on Monday.
The kidney was taken from donor Daw Khine Nyein Oo, an elder sister of Daw Cho Thae Oo.
The Tatmadaw Medical team, together with foreign experts, carried out kidney transplants 25 times between 1997 and 2010 at the Mingaladon Military Hospital. From 2010 to now, specialists from the Myanmar Military Medical Services Corp, without foreign experts, have undertaken kidney transplant operations 122 times at the Mingaladon Military Hospital and 8 times at the Tatmadaw Hospital in Pyin Oo Lwin.
The Tatmadaw Medical team performed another kidney transplant yesterday.
