CAMBODIA, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam will organise a joint conference in Yangon from 31 July to 1 August with the aim of connecting tourism industries and expanding cooperation in the banking sector, it has been learned.
The two-day conference is expected to attract more foreign investments and further deepen cooperation in the tourism sector between the four countries, the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism said.
U Tint Thwin, Director-General of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, said that the conference would make plans to highlight tourist destinations that reflect the tradition, culture and food of the four countries. In conjunction with the conference, the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV) will open its branch in Yangon, with the bank’s country representative saying that its branch will promote economic cooperation between Myanmar and Viet Nam.
Banking representatives from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam will read out papers at the conference. The leaders of the central banks of the four countries will exchange their points of view and set an agenda for broader cooperation in the banking sector. Myanmar hosted the 7th CLMV Summit last June.
