Clashes continue in the northern Rakhine, 25 violent attackers dead

The government troops continued its area clearance operations yesterday near Maungtaw Township’s villages such as Mayintaung, Pwintphyuchaung and Gwason, where the deadly clashes occurred on Saturday.
While conducting the clearance operation in Gwason village around 9 am yesterday, the troops found 50 houses burnt by the armed attackers who had retreated on Saturday.
In the operation, seven violent attackers wielding with machetes ran towards the troops in order to attack. The troops returned fire, killing six.
Similarly, a combined team that comprised of the government troops and the border guard police was attacked by about 20 violent aggressors equipped with machetes and wooden clubs while the security forces were conducting the clearance operation in Dargyizartaung village around 1 pm yesterday. But the troops fired back them and 19 aggressors killed.
The troops also found the bodies of three attackers in the aftermath of its clearance operations nearby Gwason and Dargyizartaung villages. —Myawady
