Civil society organisations urge armed groups to hold talks with govt

The CSFoP, a peace forum comprised of civil society organisations, recently urged armed ethnic groups that have not yet signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement to meet and negotiate with the government as soon as possible.
The forum’s statement also said it recognises the efforts of the government and the eight
current ethnic signatories in organising a political dialogue and appealed to all parties to stop fighting in Kachin and Shan states.
The forum was formed in August 2012 with the aim of contributing to the peace process.
