Cambodian tourism delegation discusses joint travel industry efforts with Myanmar officials

Tourism officials from Myanmar and Cambodia met last week at Amazing Bagan Resort in Bagan to discuss opportunities for coordination, according to a 27 June statement from Myanmar’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
A 10-member delegation of Cambodian government and business officials led by Mr. Hoy Phireak, deputy general director of Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism visited Myanmar 26-30 June to meet with a dozen Myanmar officials and businesspeople.
Attendees discussed coordination of air routes, visa requirements, tourism information exchanges and a joint tourism action plan. The group also agreed to establish joint marketing efforts including pamphlets and digital outreach, joint events and promoting new package tours such as a proposed “Angkor-Bagan, Two Ancient Capitals-One Destination” tour. The Cambodian delegation will be visit Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay before returning to Cambodia on 30 June.
