Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a merit-sharing ceremony in honour of the renovation of a staircase at the Lawkamanaung Pagoda in Aphauk, Taikkgyi Township, Yangon Region, on Sunday.
Present at the ceremony were the senior general’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Chief Minister U Myint Swe of Yangon Region and his wife, Joint Chief of Military Staff and Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint and his wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice Admiral Tin Aung San and his wife and senior officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
After opening the concrete path to the archway of the pagoda, the senior general and his party offered meals, flowers, water and lights to the Buddha image of the pagoda. The senior general and his party observed nine precepts from monks and presented offertories to them.
After the ceremony, the senior general and his entourage inspected the embankment of the Ayeyawady River and heard reports on its maintenance in Aphauk.
