Border Affairs Ministry welcomes ethnic excursion groups

EXCURSION to Nay Pyi Taw by ethnic people from border areas is the sixth of nine work programmes of the ministry’s 100-day plan, said Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung in meeting with members of the excursion comprising Kayin, Palaung and Danu yesterday.
In his address the Union minister highlighted the importance of the educational trip for the implementation of undertakings in their own regions with the use of knowledge gained during the excursion.
The excursion programme also has the purpose of strengthening Union spirit and ensuring national solidarity, said the Union minister, adding that the excursion program is organised annually.
The Union minister presented commemorative gifts to the excursion members, and a member of the Palaung people, one of the members, spoke words of thanks on the occasion.
Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Than Htut presented cash awards to a national race cultural troupe who performed traditional dances at the ceremony.
