Authorities are carrying out heavy maintenance of the park with the Bogyoke Aung San Statue, which was built in Pyinmana in 1964.
The works including renovation of the place for laying wreaths and reconstruction of the place for paying tribute to the fallen national leader would cost around K12.5 million, according to Pyinmana Township Pyithu Hluttaw MP U Than Soe Aung.
Local people funded the works and the park would be opened to coincide with the ceremony to commemorate the 69th Martyrs’ Day.
“We, as residents of Pyinmana, take pride in renovation of the Bogyoke bronze statue to enable the residents to pay tribute to Bogyoke Aung San on grand scale on the Martyrs’ Day,” said Ko Myo Zaw from Pyinmana Youth’s Organization.—Thein Ko Lwin
