Bird watching seminar targets biodiversity, conservation

IMAGE0321Indawgyi Wildlife Park, in conjunction with Fauna and Flora International, is conducting bird watching training until 9 August at Lonton forward camp, on the western bank of Indawgyi Lake in Mohnyin Township. U Lay Win of the Myanmar Bird Watchers Association has given lectures on observing birds in the wild. Five foresters, four staff from Indawgyi Lovers, two from Indo-Myanmar Conservation (IMC), two from FFI and five local youths are attending the course.
“The training aims to improve capacity of staff and raise the number of bird watchers who are interested in conservation of biodiversity,” Indawgyi Wildlife Park warden U Htay Win said.
About 20,000 migratory birds from around the world arrive at Indawgyi Lake and park yearly.
