Art exhibit celebrates post-retirement freedom

A RETIRED art instructor from the State School of Fine Arts in Yangon has exhibited works he created during the year after his retirement last April at the Lokanat Galleries on PansodanRoad from 9 to 13May.
Ko Mg Kyaw Than has showcased more than 70 works usingvarious media, including acrylic, oil and watercolour, entitling his solo show “Free Breeze”, referring his free life after retirement.
“I was busy with my students, spending most of my time teaching them during my life as an art instructor. I have been free since my retirement last year, and I have toured parts of Myanmar, capturing scenes of different colours on canvas and paper with use of different media,” said the retired art teacher.
The 61-year-old artist studied art under some of Myanmar’s most famous art masters, including U Thu Kha, U Mya Aye, U KyawHlaing and U Kyi. This is his fifth solo show.—Aye Min Soe
