Aquatic feed will be purchased directly from Viet Nam and resold to local fish and shrimp breeders, according to Myanmar Shrimp Association.
Fish feed imported from Viet Nam is made of mixed feedstuffs and contains essential nutrients for fish and shrimp. The association will buy both livestock feedstuff and aquatic feedstuff.
ASEAN countries already use this feed, including Myanmar breeders but the difference is that they are not sure of whether their feed contains essential nutrients because they don’t know the scientific making method, said U Win Sein, Myanmar Livestock Federation.
The ready-made Vietnamese feedstuff is cheaper than the locally made mixed feed.
“Initially, we are planning to purchase it under a two-year contract and we might extend it. We think all breeders should use this kind of feedstuff,” said Dr.Thet Mhoo, the chairman of Myanmar Shrimp Association.—200
