Appointment of Ambassador agreed on

The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of  H.E. Mr. Stanislav  OPIELA as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, with residence in Bangkok.
Mr. Stanislav OPIELA was born on 16th June 1952 in Levoca, Slovakia. He graduated from the Bratislava University of Economics in 1971 and from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1975. He joined the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Former Czech and Slovak Federal Republic in 1975 and served in various capacities including foreign assignments to Congo in 1984-1988 and Tunisia in 1990-1992. He served as the Charge d’ Affaires at the Embassy of Slovak Republic to Tunisia from 1993 to 1994; Deputy Director of Department of European Integration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic from 1994-1995; Deputy Chief of Mission and later as Charge d’ Affaires at the Embassy of Slovak Republic to Canada from 1995 to 1998; National Coordinator for the Slovak Republic to the Central European Initiative in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1998-1999; Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Slovak Republic to Canada, Senior Desk Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic to Canada consecutively from 1999 to 2010; Senior Desk Officer in the United Nations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2010 to 2011; National Coordinator in the Prime Minister’s Office for Slovak Republic’s membership to the EU Strategy for Danube Region; and as Senior Desk Officer in the Department of Americas of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs from 2012 to 2014. Since 2014, he has been serving as Director in the Office of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.  He is married and has three children.
