Appointment of ambassador agreed on

Nay Pyi Taw, 5 Aug — The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of H.E. Mr. Patrick Simiyu Wamoto as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kenya to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with residence in Bangkok.
Mr. Patrick Simiyu Wamoto was born in January 1961. He graduated with Upper 2nd Class Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Nairobi. He also received Post-Graduate Diploma in Diplomatic Studies from Oxford University, UK and Post-graduate Diploma in Multilateral Diplomacy from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1983, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Assistant Secretary III and was promoted to the position of Political and Diplomatic Secretary. He served in various capacities at the Ministry of Headquarters and Kenya Missions abroad as Permanent Secretary, First Secretary, Deputy Head and Director. He also represented Kenya in various international meetings and conferences. He was conferred with the Order of the Burning Spear, 2nd Class (Elder of the Burning Spear-EBS) by the President of the Republic of Kenya in December, 2010 for his exemplary contribution to Kenya’s diplomacy. He is married with three children. He was further appointed as High Commissioner of Kenya to South Africa with concurrent accreditations to the Kingdoms of Lesotho and Switzerland in May 2013.
H.E. Mr Patrick Simiyu Wamoto will serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kenya to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with residence in Bangkok.—MNA
