THE Amyotha Hluttaw session continued for its 29th day with a question and answer session and discussions on two bills yesterday.
In his response, Union Minister for Construction U Win Khaing said that construction of a suspension bridge in MraukU Township, Rakhine State can be carried out by the ministry upon receipt of budget allocation for the bridge by the ministry concerned or the regional government as the bridge is situated on a road managed by the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.
Next, U Khin Maung Latt of Rakhine State Constituency 3 held discussion on the fourth revised bills on Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw and Region or State Hluttaw election laws, stressing the need to review the time limit for by-elections.
In his remark on the lawmaker’s suggestion, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than called on the Bill Committee to review the bills.
Regarding the Bill Committee’s report on the bill revoking the Yangon City Development Law, the Speaker invited parliamentarians wishing to discuss the bill to list their names for discussion.
The Bill Committee’s report said that the 1990 Yangon City Development Law (State Peace and Development Council Law No. 11/1990) should be revoked under the law that Yangon Region Hluttaw passed in accordance with the 2008 Constitution.
