The ministry will coordinate with departments concerned to use the water in the Pathi reservoir as drinking water for local people, the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Tun Win told Amyotha Hluttaw yesterday.
The ministry will also cooperate with the region/state governments to ensure sustainability of the Pathi creek, which is the key water resource for the town of Thandaung, added the
deputy minister.
In his response to a question about the Pathichaung reservoir in Toungoo, Bago Region, the deputy minister said that the main task of the reservoir is to irrigate farmlands in the township, adding that the ministry is ready to cooperate with the township development committee to provide drinking water to the areas that are under-served.
Regarding a call for the dredging of a lake in Pa-nga village in Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, dredging operations will kick off on the lake in the next fiscal year, if the budget allows.
During the yesterday’s Amyotha Hluttaw session, parliamentarians also debated the Science, Technology and Innovation Bill.
The bill will be heard again by the Amyotha Hluttaw Bill Committee.
