THE Ahtet Yeywa hydropower project over the Dokhtawady River in northern Myanmar is expected to be completed in 2018.
The Ministry of Electric Power is stepping up its efforts to complete the project which will be installed with four 70-MW generators to produce 1,409 million KW hours a year.
Work on construction of the project started 2010.
A diversion tunnel which is 33 ft in diameter and 1,010 ft in length is considered one of the main construction sites for the project completed in December 2013.
The Ahtet Yeywa Hydropower project is the second project on the river, following the 280 MW-Yeywa Hydro power plant.
Meanwhile, on the same river, feasibilities are being reviewed for another three projects which could possibly generate 886 MW in total.
