With just a week left before parliament goes into recess ahead of the general elections, 50 legislative bills still require members’ votes, said Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker Thura U Shwe Mann.
Of the bills, 17 are for the consideration of Pyithu Hluttaw, 24 for Amyotha Hluttaw, and nine for Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. It is likely that several bills will not be passed into law until a new government is formed after the elections on 8 November.
Parliamentary secretaries and commission members held a coordination working committee in Nay Pyi Taw Hluttaw building on Tuesday to discuss their priorities and prepare for the next parliamentary period.
