12th Pyithu Hluttaw session resumes in Nay Pyi Taw

pyithumNay Pyi Taw, 18 Aug — The Pyithu Hluttaw resumed its 12th session Tuesday, discussing a motion to suspend the current sitting of the Lower House to allow MPs to respond to the flood crisis and prepare for the 8 November general election.
After discussing the motion, representatives raised questions on timely allocation of budgets to state and region governments and delays in issuance of registration books for motorcycles.
Concerning the budget allocation, Deputy Minister for Finance Dr Lin Aung said funds for states and regions were transferred to local governments in a timely manner and local authorities were required to spend them in accordance with the guidance of the president office.
Deputy Minister for Rail Transportation U Chan Maung said it was impossible for the ministry to issue registration books to motorcyclists if companies selling vehicles failed to pay for number plates.
Afterwards, Deputy Minister for Construction U Soe Tint filed a bill amending the law on use of roads and bridges.—MNA
