Eleven men allegedly involved in the violent armed attacks of 9 October in Rakhine State were arrested Tuesday, according to the military-run Myawady News today.
“During an area clearance operation at 9 am on 18 October around Ngakhuya Village in Maungtaw Township, combined troops comprising soldiers from the Tatmadaw and Police managed to arrest Musta Ahmed, who was involved in the violent armed attacks on the Ngakhuya border outpost”, said the report.
Later that evening, troops also arrested Jina Kham, son of Tawlinu Ahlaung Sedi Ahmed, son of Aryu, Shar Arlaung, son of Mumed Arlaung, Anawa, son of Rusha, Anawa, son of Islam, Anawa, son of Hussein Ahmed, Anawa, son of Phweyaw Ahmed, Disu Ali, son of Mahmoud Rawphi, Adu Zawkaw, son of Ahmoud Ali and Khin Maung Tun, son of Deda Ahmed, at the Ale Ywa Village in Ngakhyua Village-tract, according to the report.
Acting on information received during interrogation of the men, troops raided the house of Kphite Tullah from Ngakhuya Ahle Village, who escaped. Found at his home was one single firearm and 11 bullets. All the detainees remain under interrogation.
Two armed men ambushed a soldier yesterday in Maungtaw attacking him with knives.
The soldier fought them back, killing one, but another attacker managed to escape. —GNLM
